Today, our Year 5 and 6 School Councillors went to our final meeting of the year at Colne Town Hall. During the year, they have been part of the Colne Junior Council and have helped to improve litter, reduce traffic speed and improve local playground areas with other Year 5 and 6 pupils from three other local schools. As a result, they have been rather busy writing letters, making posters and attending meetings. They are now due to embark on a very exciting visit to London next Friday and are now the proud holders of a Colne Junior Council rucksack, badge and cap. During today's meeting, they were finalising a letter which is going to be sent to the local councils in order to try and improve life for invertebrates through placing bug hotels in the local area. Some children from our school have designed incredible bug hotels and a selection from Year 5 have been chosen to be sent with this letter as an example for the town/parish councillors to view. Well done Year 5 - excellent designs!
