Exploring Halloween Fun in EYFS!

It’s been a spook-tacular week in EYFS as we’ve been enjoying all things Halloween a little early — ready to make space for our Diwali celebrations next week!

Our children have been busy engaging in lots of themed activities, from creative crafts to imaginative play, all helping to build important early learning skills. They especially enjoyed making spooky haunted houses in the small world area, using their imaginations to create stories and bring their mini haunted worlds to life!

In maths, we’ve been exploring mass and capacity through hands-on provision. The children have loved using balance scales to compare objects and talk about which are heavier or lighter. They’ve also explored different containers, predicting and testing which objects will fit inside, as well as experimenting with water play to understand volume — discovering how much each container can hold. These activities link directly to the EYFS Mathematics Early Learning Goals, supporting children’s understanding of measure, comparison, and mathematical language in meaningful, playful contexts.
