A group of our Reception Class Garden Gang children set off to the school garden with their little red wheelbarrow to harvest the pumpkins from the polytunnel — but there were so many that we had to use the big wheelbarrow too!

he children did a fantastic job helping Mrs Nelson to gather all the pumpkins. This is the second season our pumpkins have been grown from our own saved seed — all thanks to “Jack”, the pumpkin from our Pumpkin Jack story and decomposition experiment.

The children chose one pumpkin to be the new 'Jack' and the pumpkin lifecycle will start all over again.  Some of the pumpkins are now part of our lovely autumn display in the library, and one will soon be turned into delicious pumpkin hummus!

What a lot of learning (and fun!) from our pumpkins this year!
