This week, our Year 4 and 5 pupils joined forces for an exciting Lego workshop that challenged their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Working in small groups, the children set out to recreate some of America’s most famous landmarks – the White House, the Empire State Building, and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Armed with photographs of the real structures, the children studied the details carefully before designing and constructing their Lego versions. They had to think like real engineers – considering height, balance, and strength – to make sure their buildings and bridges didn’t topple over.

The workshop linked perfectly with our focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Pupils practised engineering skills by exploring how to build strong foundations, used mathematical reasoning to judge proportions, and applied technology and science as they experimented with different ways to solve problems together.

The results were truly impressive, with each team producing a creative and sturdy model. More importantly, the children showed fantastic collaboration, perseverance, and pride in their achievements.
