To celebrate Grandparents Day on 5th October 2025, Grandparents were invited into school to spend some time with their grandchild/children. In Year 5, each child wrote a short narrative poem containing some of their favourite funny memories with their Grandparent. In the afternoon, children loved reading their poems to their Grandparents and even took them home to share with other family members too. Children also took part in an Art activity with their grandparents. They drew a self-portrait on one half of an outline whilst their Grandparent drew on the other. To finish the masterpieces off, the two halves were stuck together creating a beautiful piece of artwork to be treasured.

Finally, children had some interview questions to share with their Grandparents, asking them what made them proud, what their favourite memories were and what they enjoy the most about being a Grandparent. It was so lovely to see the special bond between the children and their grandparent and how much fun they were having together too. I'm sure everyone's favourite part of the afternoon was the refreshments aswell!

Thank you so much to those of you who could join us in Class 5 last week and I hope you had as much fun as we did! I also hope that if your child brought home a poem for you, you have been able to share it together and reminisce on some lovely memories.
