The intent of our Music curriculum is to encourage children to participate in a variety of musical experiences through which they can appreciate different forms of music, across a range of cultures. We aim to build up the musical confidence of all children by providing them with experience of an instrument and singing. They learn to listen and to appreciate how to improvise, compose and perform for an audience. Through singing songs, children learn about the structure and organisation of music and the impact it can have on their feelings, emotions and wellbeing.

There is much research to suggest that the cognitive skills developed during music lessons can influence children’s cognitive abilities in completely unrelated subjects, leading to overall improved academic performance. (Neuroscience, April 19, 2018).
