At Forest School this week, the children in EYFS fully immersed themselves in the wonders of the changing seasons, sharpening their observational skills while hunting for signs of spring like emerging snowdrops and budding leaves. This sense of discovery carried over to the mud kitchen, where they collaborated to "cook" imaginative recipes, mixing textures and natural ingredients with high levels of teamwork. One of the most significant challenges was learning to strike a flint and steel to ignite cotton wool; this task demanded immense resilience and perseverance, as children had to try repeatedly before seeing that first successful spark. Through these hands-on experiences, they not only connected with nature but also built the inner strength and social cooperation essential for their early development.
