It was a very wet and rainy start to our first Gardening Club session of the summer term…but that didn't stop us getting stuck in!
Even with the weather against us, we finished planting our dwarf peas, bringing us to an amazing total of 150 pea plants grown from seed and now planted out! We’ve planned for an earlier harvest, which will be taken straight to the school kitchen for everyone to enjoy fresh, ‘school-grown’ peas at lunchtime…if they make it that far!
We also transplanted the remaining marigold seedlings to grow on. These are extra special, as they’ve been grown from seeds we collected from last year’s flowers, making this our second generation of marigolds grown from our very own school garden.
Our main crop potatoes are now planted, so lots to look forward to in the months ahead!
And finally…we’ve begun creating our very own container pond! We’ve already welcomed a few tiny residents - water snails now named (of course!) Barry, Gary and Bob.
A brilliant (and very busy!) start to the term - rain and all!
