Following on from our EYFS Garden Gang children planting lots of peas at the end of last term, we are delighted to say they have now grown into restaurant style pea shoot microgreens and were ready for harvesting.

The Garden Gang children thoroughly enjoyed carefully snipping the shoots. “It’s like we’re giving them a haircut!” said Oscar.

Once the pea shoots had been gently washed, the microgreens, which are packed with vitamins and antioxidants, were ready to be taken around the playground for a taste testing session. They certainly did not last long!

The verdict from the children was clear. Grow more, serve them at lunchtime, and try some different varieties of microgreens too. Beetroot in micro form was top of the list. It looks like our microgreen growing journey is only just beginning. Watch this space...
