Year 5 have had a very exciting morning so far. To celebrate World Book Day, we joined The Big Footy and Book Quiz hosted by Premier League Primary Stars linked with the National Literacy Trust.

Children split off into six quiz teams and were so excited to see some familiar football faces, as well as some authors delivering the questions. Questions were a mixture of football knowledge and book knowledge so children had to work really well as a team and offer their individual expertise.

Year 5 also heard messages from famous faces about why reading is so important, that they can do it anywhere and that they can read anything from magazines, recipes, novels to the back of cereal boxes! Hopefully, Year 5 have been inspired by what they have heard and seen this morning and it encourages more of them to get reading.

Children also then completed a Going All In card which linked to their own ''specialist subject'' and thought about how reading can help them become more skilled in this area.

We cannot wait for tomorrow to celebrate by dressing up as some of our favourite book characters as we take part in more fun activities.
