We are delighted to celebrate National Tree Week with a very special addition to our school garden.

Malus Domestica – ‘Isaac Newton’s Tree’

Our new apple tree is a direct descendant of the famous tree at Isaac Newton’s home, Woolsthorpe Manor in Lincolnshire — the very tree said to have inspired Newton’s thoughts on gravity when an apple fell beside him.

This unique connection to scientific history is now part of our school community. While we decide on the perfect permanent location for planting, we have placed the tree in a large planter to overwinter and keep it safe.

We look forward to involving our children in caring for this living legacy and using it as a source of inspiration across science, history, and outdoor learning.
