Y1 started off their topic on The Great Fire of London in a very exciting way - with a visit from the History Man!

He told us all about how the fire started and why it spread so fast.  He showed us what the houses were made of and how close together they were.  Outside he demonstrated that a small spark can easily turn into a fire which was very exciting.

Reggie looked fabulous in some period clothes and Toby thought it was hilarious when he threw the bucket of water over the burning building (me)!

Afterwards the children got to handle and look at the artefacts before competing some fun activities - building a wattle wall, throwing water balls at the fire, playing with toys from the past and playing a great fire game.  They also used their knowledge of materials to identify which materials were used to make different objects.

The children were thrilled with his visit and I am sure this will really help with our future learning in the topic.
