Our EYFS children ended their week with a sparkling firework-themed PE session full of fun, movement, and creativity!

The children began by warming up their bodies imagining that they were getting ready for a cold autumn walk. They then showed off with energetic movements inspired by fireworks — whizzing rockets, spinning catherine wheels, and crackling sparklers! After that they gathered safely around our outdoor fire area to toast delicious s’mores, talking about the sounds, sights, and smells of fireworks as they enjoyed their treat.

To finish, the children created their very own firework display using ribbons!

This exciting session supported a range of Early Learning Goals (ELGs) including:

  • Physical Development: Moving confidently in different ways and developing coordination and control.

  • Communication and Language: Listening carefully to instructions and expressing their ideas about fireworks.

  • Understanding the World: Learning about fire safety and the celebration of Bonfire Night.

  • Expressive Arts and Design: Using movement and materials to represent their ideas creatively.
