For Sciene Week we have investigated paper rockets.
First we followed instructions to make our simple paper rocket and tested to see if they worked.
Then we discussed what we could change that might make our rocket go further. Children suggested fins, a nosecone, different types of straw and altering the length of the rocket or straw.
We decided to investigate if the length of the rocket affected how far the rocket went.
The children tested their full size rocket first to see how far it would go. Then they chose how much to cut off their rocket and adapted it. Some children chose not to cut theirs at all.
Finally we tested again to see if the rockets went further. Most children discovered that a shorter rocket did go further than a longer one.
