WOW!!!
Today Y1 completed their work on watercolours by studying a painting by Paul Klee called Cat and Bird. They talked about the shapes, colours and lines in the painting and how it made them feel. Theo said, "The cat is thinking about the bird because it flew away and he couldn't catch it - that's why he looks grumpy."
We watched a tutorial on how to sketch the shapes in the painting which everyone followed really well. Then they went over the lines to make them stand out. Finally, the children used their watercolour skills to paint their drawing. Some children chose colours similar to the original whilst others used their imagination and creativity.
Mrs Turner and I were astonished at the results - they deserve to be in a gallery!
I am sure you will be as impressed as we are.
Amazing job Year 1!
