Year 1 had a fantastic visit from The History Man today to learn about The Great Fire of London.
We heard what happened in the fire and some of the reasons it was so big. The children got to look at and feel some artefacts from the time of the great fire and we saw how easily just 1 spark could cause a fire. We pretended to be houses and spread the fire until some were blown up to make a fire break. We explored toys from the time, matched artefacts to materials and played a Fire of London game. We also tried to build a period house and enjoyed passing buckets (balls) to put out the fire.
A brilliant way to stimulate interest in our topic!
