In our Year 4 Forest School lesson this week, we were inspired by their English unit on "The Lost Thing" by Shaun Tan. Children were given the task to create their very own "lost things" using the portmanteau words they have been practicing in English. A portmanteau word is a new word created using two existing words i.e. motel = motorway & hotel, ginormous = giant & enormous.
Mother Nature decided to join the adventure as well! A surprise guest appearance by a delightful deer, gracefully running through the field... Before jumping over the fence to escape the loud cheers!
Below is a list of the lost thing names. Each name is a portmanteau, using the names of the children who created them. For example: Mr Loynds & Mrs Waters = Loyters
