Terrific Typography!

Maple Class created some wonderful artwork this afternoon within our study of typography. We learned that typography is the visual art of creating and arranging letters and words on a page to help communicate ideas or emotions. We studied Louise Fili, a pioneer in establishing herself as a woman working within typography, which inspired us to organise letters in playful ways to discover arrangements the children liked. The children broadened that out with further shapes and symbols to create names and patterns which were visually pleasing. They recorded this work within their sketch books.
