For Art week Reception have been studying Double East Yorkshire by David Hockney. We looked at the colours and patterns he used and talked about whether it was really what he could see or if he used his imagination. We learned that he has been an artist for a long time and has created some very famous paintings of swimming pools and has experimented with lots of different styles and media.
First we used different printing and painting techniques to create patterns which we then cut up and rearranged to make a landscape. Then we looked closely at the painting and tried to make part of the landscape in 3D using dough. We worked together to make a fabric collage in the same style and also used pencils to colour and make patterns on a countryside template.
We love how our artwork has turned out.
