On Wednesday and Thursday this week, Year 5 went on their very first one-night residential.

Children went to Coldwell Activity Centre and everyone was so excited for the first day! Once all the children had arrived, they had a quick tour and were able to see their rooms and get unpacked. Then, we had a little bit of free time before our first activities.

We were split into 3 groups- some went into the Forest and did shelter building, learnt about survival skills and had a go at fire-lighting, some did some team building and problem solving activities and some did archery and breadmaking. Then we all swapped so everyone got a chance! It was really fun and the children learnt a lot of new skills. Our instructors from Outdoor Elements were all really knowledgeable and very impressed with the children's manners and enthusiasm across all of the activities.

After a jam packed day, children were excited for their BBQ tea followed by free time. Coldwell was full of games such as mini-golf, air hockey, ping pong as well as football and rounders. After running off their tea (and ice-cream) it was time for showers and settling down for bed before the main event tomorrow....LASER TAG!

Overall a very successful, tiring but super exciting first day!
