In Year 6, we explored how light travels in straight lines through simple and exciting experiments. One activity involved using a torch and three pieces of card with small holes in the centre. When the holes are lined up perfectly, the light shines straight through all three and can be seen on the wall. However, if one card is moved slightly out of line, the light is blocked, showing that light must travel in a straight path. Another hands-on investigations helped the children to understand that light does not curve around corners but moves in straight lines unless it is reflected.
