Yesterday, Year 5 were lucky enough to take part in a truly out-of-this-world experience. A portable planetarium landed in the school hall and Year 5 were invited into the WonderDome!
Once inside, in the safe hands of our tour guide Helen, Year 5 took an inter-galactic trip around our solar system. We looked at each planet in turn, learnt all about their atmospheres and number of moons as well as future plans for missions to the Moon and current investigations about potential alien life on one of Jupiter's moons, Europa.
Children were given an incredible tour through the galaxies and were truly wowed by what they saw. Helen was incredibly impressed with the knowledge children already had and their thoughtful questions too. We were treated to a look at like on the ISS, saw some real space suit camera footage and reinforced our learning about the Space Race and the Apollo 11's mission to the moon.
All children were inspired by what they saw and were absolutely in awe during the experience, it truly was out of this world!
