EYFS Festive Fun This Week
Our EYFS children have had a brilliant festive start to the week, filled with creativity, excitement and Christmas cheer.
The children began the week by creating polar bear pictures, exploring different materials and developing their fine motor skills. The excitement continued when they met Father Christmas, which inspired them to paint their own Father Christmas pictures back in the classroom.
In their maths and creative learning, the children measured themselves and used their height to create a special keepsake. They made little lolly stick snowmen and measured out wool to match how tall they are, turning it into a scarf. This has been taken home tonight as a lovely reminder of how tall they were in 2025.
Following on from our Drawing Club sessions inspired by Greg Bottrill and linked to The Gingerbread Man, the children decorated their own gingerbread figures. They watched the chocolate melt and discussed the changes they could see, linking this activity to their science learning about materials and changes. They really enjoyed this activity and as you can see from some of their chocolate covered faces there were definitely no sprinkles or melted chocolate consumed whilst making them! They also decorated two bauble-shaped biscuit decorations to take home, if they managed not to eat them first!
This afternoon, the children coloured and carefully cut out their own Christmas headbands, which they are looking forward to wearing tomorrow for our Christmas dinner.
We are excited for our Christmas party day tomorrow!
