On Monday we were delighted to welcome Louise from Food for Life Lancashire, who delivered a wonderful and engaging interactive assembly for our children.

Food for Life brings schools and communities together around the importance of healthy, tasty and sustainable food. The programme goes far beyond what’s on the plate — it encourages children to explore where food comes from, how it’s grown and cooked, and the impact our choices have on our health and the environment.

This message fits perfectly with the work happening in our own school growing area, where children are learning first-hand how to grow a wide variety of fruit, vegetables, and herbs. Much of this produce is used in our cooking sessions and by our school kitchen, helping pupils see the full journey from seed to plate.

By understanding this journey, our pupils are developing a positive food culture and learning to value good, sustainable food.

We’re also proud to share that we are very close to achieving our Bronze Food for Life Award, highlighting our ongoing commitment to growing, cooking, and eating more sustainably.
