Another Fantastic Week in EYFS!
We’ve had another wonderful week in school, full of learning, exploring, and creativity!
In maths, we have continued to develop our understanding of grouping and sorting, as well as practising our counting skills. The children have been making great progress towards the EYFS Early Learning Goals for Mathematics by recognising patterns, comparing amounts, and beginning to notice similarities and differences between objects.
In phonics, we have been learning the sounds ‘s’ and ‘a’, listening carefully to the initial sounds in words and practising saying and writing them. We’ve also been working hard on developing our fine motor skills to build the finger strength we need for writing — through fun activities like 'pass the pumpkin' with pegs, cutting, and using playdough.
Our ‘All About Me’ topic has continued to inspire lots of thoughtful conversations and creative ideas. This week, we have been learning more about ourselves and our bodies, thinking about what makes us unique. The children have also started an exciting art project led by their own ideas — drawing around their bodies and beginning to paint them. This will be an ongoing process over the next couple of weeks, and we can’t wait to share the finished pieces with you soon!
It’s been fantastic to see the children so engaged, curious, and proud of their achievements.
