Image of Gardening Club Update!

It’s been another fun-filled week in the school garden.  The children have been busy harvesting, cooking, and making our very own ‘Pongy Potions’!

This week’s harvest included a fabulous crop of broad beans, purple podded peas, new potatoes, and juicy strawberries.

Using some of the freshly dug potatoes and garlic harvested from last week, we took our cooking skills outdoors and made two delicious potato dishes. We sautéed the potatoes in garlic, as well as boiling some of the new potatoes and tossing them in butter.  The potatoes were a huge thumbs up from all the children.

We also began our exciting ‘Pongy Potion’ project! The comfrey plants had finished flowering, so we chopped them up, gave them a good bruise with a big stick, and added water to start the magical transformation. In a few weeks, we’ll have our very own organic comfrey fertiliser—a brilliant (and stinky!) boost for the school garden!
