Image of A Potato Learning Journey

Our Gardening Club, with fantastic help from Reception Class, Year 4, and Year 5 have been busy taking part in a hands-on potato learning journey.

As part of the ‘Grow Your Own Potatoes’ primary school scheme, we chitted seed potatoes back in February, planted them in March, and patiently cared for them as they grew.

Last week, we proudly harvested two batches of potatoes — and after carefully weighing each crop, we submitted our results to the GYOP programme!        Alongside these potatoes, we are still growing lots of varieties - from earlies to main crop, as well as our exciting school potato competition.

From planting to harvesting, the children have learned all about the growing process and where our food comes from. A huge well done to our hardworking gardeners — what a brilliant job!
