Year 2 had a fabulous time on our local fieldwork walk around Trawden.

Working in groups, the children became geographers as they observed and recorded the human and physical features they spotted around our local area. We also took time to use our senses, thinking carefully about what we could hear and what we could discover about the nature and environment around us.

Along the way, we spotted several local landmarks that we have been learning about in our Non-Chronological Reports. We even stopped to put our English skills into practice, creating compound sentences using conjunctions to share some of the interesting facts we have learnt about our local area.

Our walk also linked beautifully with our Lowry art topic. We stopped at St Mary’s Church to look closely at the shapes, lines and details we could see, asking ourselves, “What might Lowry notice?” 🎨⛪

In our next Art lesson, we will use our observations from the walk to have a go at drawing this local landmark in a Lowry-inspired style.

A fantastic morning of Geography, English and Art learning out in our local community!
