From Plot to Plate!

What a busy and rewarding Gardening Club session this week!

We harvested our potatoes from the Grow-Your-Own Potatoes competition. Back in February, we carefully chitted our seed potatoes before planting them in March and nurturing them throughout the growing season. After harvesting, we weighed our crop and will now submit our results to the competition. Well done to all of our young gardeners for their hard work and dedication!

We also lifted one of our garlic beds, giving us a wonderful harvest of fresh garlic bulbs.

The highlight of the session was taking some of our school-grown Cristina potatoes and freshly harvested garlic and cooking them outdoors to make delicious pan-roasted garlic potatoes. From the ground to the pan and onto the plate in the same afternoon - it really doesn’t get any fresher than that!

We also harvested a batch of crisp radishes and sowed more seeds to keep our growing journey going throughout the summer.

A fantastic session packed with harvesting, outdoor cooking, tasting  and planting. Our gardeners continue to learn where food comes from while enjoying the rewards of growing their own produce.
