To finish off their Science topic of Space, Year 5 had one final mission. To understand and order the phases of the moon. Children have thoroughly enjoyed this half term's topic, with a particular highlight being our visit from the space WonderDome.

In today's lesson, children learnt all about The Moon. They learnt how long it's orbit is, what it is made from and all about the 8 different phases it goes through within 27 days. Children were interested to learn that the Moon doesn't actually change shape, it is all to do with the way the Sun's light is illuminating it. Once children had labelled a diagram to show the correct order and illustration of each phase, they then created a Moon Phase spinner.

This has really helped children in their understanding and was a fun, exciting way to finish off our topic!
