Y1 had a fantastic trip on Friday to Bring Yer Wellies.
First we build sandcastles while our packed lunches were safely put away for later. Then Nigel told us all about Mother Nature and how nature provides things like plants and then animals give things back. We looked at different plants and learned about how they make clean air for us. We also found out that horse poo is a present back to nature for the lovely grass to eat!
We all got to plant our own chives following instructions and brought them home to care for.
After that we had a look at the wormery - there were hundreds! It was like work spaghetti! All busy eating old fruits and vegetables and making nutritious compost.
We had our picnic lunch under the trees before an afternoon of more fun.
First we went to the hillside and shouted to the farmer across the other side before going to the large pond to see the fish being fed. Then we worked in 2 teams to build dens in the woodland that we could all fit inside. When we had finished we played a racing game where everone took turns to ring the bell.
Finally, we had a treasure hunt, reading a map and finding the different markers all around.
Everyone was happy but exhausted on the coach back after a wonderful day of outdoor learning.
