Image of Year 5's Playdough Planets

Maple class have begun their learning about Earth and Space this week, and enjoyed the opportunity to play with playdough! Following the instructions, the children used their fractions knowledge to break up the play dough into appropriately sized planetary balls linked to their relative size within the solar system. The children noticed how big Jupiter and Saturn (the gas giants) are in comparison to the rocky planets of Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. We enjoyed this practical science activity, and look forward to learning more about it at Forest School on Monday and within future lessons this term.
